Join us on March 29

You are invited to join us on Tuesday, March 29 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. for a virtual event we're moderating. Sponsored by Bridgewater State University's College of Education and Health Sciences, The Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice, and the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME), we're co-hosting a 90-minute webinar titled "Eradicating Racism: A Path Forward."

We're thrilled to feature our friends at the Dock C. Bracy Center, an organization we've come to know here in Bridgewater, MA. The Dock C. Bracy Center is dedicated to human reconciliation and brings decades of experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion training. Paul Bracy, its founder, will deliver an opening address, and then a panel of Dock C. Bracy Center activists and educators will offer their perspectives on how we can grow our capacities for eradicating racism in schools and communities.

Registration is required at bit.ly/BSUPathForward

Winter Happenings at EQUITYedu

We've had a productive winter season here at EQUITYedu and we're proud to be a part of so many efforts to increase social justice learning in schools and organizations. In addition to planning the Eradicating Racism event, we've been...

  • Offering two series of webinars to administrators and managers within a nationwide disability school network and organization--one series on dismantling bias and the other on addressing microaggressions at school and at work;

  • Training that organization's trainers to offer the webinars to all of their employees to increase the entire organization's capacities for diversity, equity, and inclusion;

  • Beginning a three-day professional development series within a predominantly white school district to increase their capacities for culturally responsive teaching and learning;

  • Co-teaching a three-month course called "Reading for Change" to Massachusetts literacy and ELA educators in cooperation with the Massachusetts Reading Association.

Looking Ahead to Summer

Summer is the perfect time to increase your leadership's capacity for diversity, equity, and inclusion. And the time to reach out to us to be sure you're on our summer calendar is now. Whether you'd like to plan an ongoing summer discussion group, a series of book talks, or a series of trainings, we'd love to be involved in your work.

Send us an email at equityedu1@gmail.com; let's talk about how we can meet the needs of your district or organization.
